Michigan Women's Foundation is joining the fight against the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC). To raise awareness in our state about the number of CSEC victims, affect social change on this issue, and support comprehensive and holistic services for victims across sectors, MWF has received a grant from Women’s Funding Network to replicate the successful campaign from Georgia, “A Future. Not a Past,” and to support AFNAP’s efforts nationally.
The grant will support initial research counts in Michigan, technical assistance from AFNAP Georgia, and strategic planning meetings on how to use the research data collected and implement the methods used in Georgia. The project will use the data on the number of girls prostituted in the state to educate, advocate, and to raise awareness to create policy change. Likewise the project should create a matrix of support to victims and appropriate treatment of predators to help prevent minors from being prostituted and rehabilitate the girls who have been trafficked.
